Hazel Sellers is currently serving her fourth four-year term on the School Board of Polk County. She is a life-long resident of Florida, originally from Leesburg in Lake County. Mrs. Sellers is retired from the Polk County school system where she worked as a classroom teacher and at the district office as a Gifted Facilitator in the ESE Department. She earned her BS Degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University and holds Masters’ Degrees in Reading Education and Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. Ms. Sellers serves as a Trustee of the Florida Education Investment Trust Fund and is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association’s Public Liaison Advisory Committee. In addition, she serves on the Board of the Central Florida Regional Planning Council, the Guardian Ad Litem’s Speak Up for Children Board, the Polk Academies Advisory Board, and the Board of InnerAct Alliance. She formerly served as President of the Florida Association for the Gifted, the Bartow Rotary, and the Zonta Club. Mrs. Sellers is also a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Bartow.
