After-School Adventures Program Assistant

Intership opportunities for college students enrolled in a K-12 Education studies program or high school juniors or seniors planning to major in Elementary Education through working with the After-School Adventures Program.

Duties include supervision of students and reinforcement of instruction. The After-School Adventures Program is designed to support the enhancement of the required reading, mathematics, science and 21st Century Learning Skill through additional after-school learning time.

Specialized duties may require health and hygiene care to students, interpretation of speech and/or languages, operation of adaptive equipment and physical assistance to students as needed. Must be able to work effectively with children, assist with student supervision, and provide reinforcement of instruction

Positions are temporary and will end at the expiration of the After-School Adventures Program. Pay range $8.05 - $10.00 per hour and work schedule is 3 to 31/2 hours per day.

Applications are now being accepted for our AmeriCorps Polk Reads program.  We are a grant funded program under the Polk Education Foundation that has members (Volunteer Tutors) helping K-3 students become better readers.  The program will look to hire 30+ members to start their two weeks of training in August.  Members are then placed at one of 10 elementary schools in teams of three or four.  Members can serve either in a Full-Time or Half-Time capacity.

  • Serve locally, and be connected to the National Service network
  • Gain leadership, problem-solving, communication and other career skills
  • Receive the Segal Education Award (or if you are 55 or older you can gift to a child or grandchild)
