Kindergarten registration for the 18-19 school year is April 2-27.

Getting ready for the next step in your child’s education doesn’t have to be so stressful – that’s what Mission: Transition is all about.

This series of annual events helps students and families make the jump from elementary to middle school, and then progress on to high school.

“This is about supporting our students and parents as they transition from one level to the next, and making it a smooth process where everybody feels comfortable,” said Ann Everett, Senior Director of K-12 Literacy for Polk County Public Schools.

“We don’t want students to be anxious about the unknown; we want them to get familiar with their new setting, as well as the new faces and resources that will be there to assist them on campus,” said Everett, who also works with the district’s school counseling services. “We just really want students to be confident enough to jump in and focus on academics, and be excited about all of the possibilities that open up with being at a new school.”

Mission: Transition kicks off this year with freshman preview events held at high schools on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. Please see the information below for details about our middle school events on May 8, as well as information on preschool programs and kindergarten registration.
